Finding Faith.

I remember so many times growing up being around gals who had faith. It was just something in the way they were so at peace. I, on the other hand, was a constant questioner. Faith was not my strong point.

But it is so beautiful how God never gives up on us. Faith is something that comes when we learn to trust in Him.

Today, we are talking about the foundational pillar of this podcast- How do we start a Jesus journey. Are you ready to Find Faith?

What is Faith?

As we start this Jesus journey together it is important for us to look at what faith is. If we are going to start working to find it we better know what we are looking for, right?

Good ‘ol online Dictionary gives us this…

Number two, I would say this is what most outsiders see faith in God as- beliefs.

Many would say your beliefs and your faith are interchangeable.

I definitely can see this as a simple explanation for what faith is, but I do not agree that it accurately depicts the faith I saw, felt, knew from those who I could say had faith growing up. I also would not say it even comes close to the stirring of the spirit in me now.

Number one, on the other hand, does come so much closer. Trust! Trust in our Lord. Trust in Him and a knowing that for every bit of my failure He is strength. Trust in His power, love, and ability to make me whole and give me peace.

It comes close, but…

What does the Bible say about faith?

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1

This whole chapter is dedicated to showing faith in action. Take a few minutes and see how the people of the bible exemplify faith.

Where does faith come from?

Let’s make one thing clear right here. As we talk about this you are going to be tempted to DO faith. Pursue it in a way that turns faith into a work.

Faith is not a work.

Faith is not a goal. It is a process. It takes time. It takes pursuance. And through this, we are given the most amazing gift ever.

Grace.

Freely given by God.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

Our faith builds within us, it grows as we fully trust God.

It is His holy plan and purpose, and all glory to Him.

Why do we need faith?

Because faith, God-given, beautiful trust, real faith… well, real faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains.

Faith is what transforms us. Faith is what saves us. Faith baptizes us in the spirit. Faith makes us new and we are born again in faith.

This is why people who truly have faith are different. They truly are. Their soul is new. Faith in God, full honest trust in God changes us. It gives us peace as we have never known in our hearts.

How do we get faith?

Nobody can give us faith. We cannot earn it. We can’t pick it up at the store around the corner. Faith is grown.

Again, faith is not a goal- it’s a process. It takes time and dedication every day to build a relationship with the Lord.

Beginning our Jesus Journey.

This ties right into this amazing adventure we are on.

In life when we have a good relationship with someone, a friend someone we trust, we have to spend time with them. Every day we have to spend time with them.

If we want to know God we have to spend time with Him. That time creates a place for faith to grow and that trust to be solidified.

It becomes a place for true transformation.

For truly finding faith above.

Your challenge if you choose to accept it…

Faith- nobody can find it for you, but it is free for you to have any time. It is beautiful and transformational. So let’s do this. Start building that relationship to grow trust and build faith.

This week I want you to try something different. I want you to dust off that Bible you have on your shelf. Take 15 minutes each day and open your heart to what He has to say. If this is your first time, I would suggest John or Mathew. I love the ESV, but the NLT, NIV, or anything that calls to you that you can understand is fine. Come with an open heart and hear what He has to say. And then talk to Him about it. Tell Him what you think.

Start to build that relationship. Trust God. Find faith above.
