“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28

You are strong enough, big enough, enough.

The self-help world is full of these affirmations.

But what if I were to tell you that the world of self-help, well, they have it all wrong.

You don’t have to take my word for it- today we are talking with Carla Arges, host of the podcast and ministry, Affirming Truths where she brings the kind of affirmations that work- faith-based and rooted in building a relationship with our creator. You are going to love this one…

Today’s question:

Are we truly enough? What affirmations speak and transform our soul?

Broken Beginnings

“There was a time that I didn’t think that my life would amount to anything. I didn’t even think I would live past 23 and yet God is a God of restoration…” Carla Arges

Life is not always easy and sometimes our beginnings can be riddled with hurt and trauma. At 13, Carla found herself homeless and broken.

But God is a God of love and restoration. Carla was able to find her way home. It was not an easy road, but God has used the brokenness in her life to build her, shape her and bring her to her calling.

Can you relate?

What struggles have you endured? Have you made it to the other side?

Live a Life on Purpose

“A few years ago I was introduced to the world of personal development. And it’s honestly had such a positive impact in my life.⠀It’s one of the things that helped bring about greater self awareness, leading me to therapy to help heal my heart from my past trauma and learn how to function with bipolar and borderline personality.”⠀

Self-Help Hiccups and Affirmation Truths

“There is one thing on this personal develpoment journey that I have not been able to embrace- affrimations. Not affirmations in and of themselves- but the TYPE of affrimations I see. I am strong, capable, I can do anything, I can raise my vibration.

I get the sentiment. Truly. And I love the intention. Far to many of us beleive lies about our value.

But here’s where this falls short for me…

The truth for me is that I am none of those things. I am weak, broken, fearful, I am a sinner…

…apart from Christ.

You see, left on my own I am bound to self destruct.

But IN Christ…

His strength is made perfect in my weakness. I can do all things THROUGH HIM who gives me strength. I am redeemed. Chosen. Set apart. Forgiven. Purposeful.

The world would have me believe everything I need is in me, but I know it is He who lives in me that makes all things possible according to His will.”

I am an Over Comer

“I was an overwhelmed mom, wife, Christian, and woman battling a mood disorder and a painful past. And boy, was I lacking in joy. Lacking in purpose.

God has so much for us to enjoy in this life and for too many years I lived in bondage to my past and my own self-loathing.

I am still very much a work in progress. I mean come on, aren’t we all?

But through my journey I have discovered how to thrive with mental illness, grow in my faith. And I have developed a passion to help women transform their lives by helping them root their identity and confidence in Christ.”

We talk about how the episodes affect us and all the trials, struggles and wins we experience on the winding road of faith.

One of the absolute hardest things to do after leaving the church is navigating what you actually believe.
What is left over baggage and what is truth?
In this audio training we brake down 10 things I wish I had known when beginning this journey. These are things all those who want to know Jesus should know.
