3 Great Takeaways from our Chat…

I. Just because we follow Jesus, does not mean we are without trials. In fact, the opposite.

Where do we go when we are going through tough times? Often, we expect because we are following Jesus that thing should be easy. We should be blessed. But He reminds us that He will be there for us regardless of the fact that hard times will come. We can rely on Him because He alone has overcome the world. Daily time in the word allows us to give it to Him.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

— John 16:33 NLT

2. Getting out of our own way to accept Grace is pivotal.

When you grow up believing that breaking the man-made rules means that you are rotten, the love that is grace is hard to accept. But, the peace of accepting Grace and letting it go, knowing that you are enough in Him, is life-changing.

We have to know this is not works-based. This can be hard for us to overcome coming from works-based, man-made religions, but His grace overcomes all.

3. You have to get into the Word of God.

Be intentional about your time in the Word. Study the character of God. Don’t give up even if it doesn’t all make sense yet and focus on God’s Promises. They are true and they are right. Be intentional about your pursuit and just talk to Him.

…Because then you get the character of God and you truly understand who he is and what He has for you and what He wants for you. And that is the only way that is going to help us get out of bondage and oppression.

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
