Why care about purpose, faith, works, or grace?

Faith is a winding road. It defiantly was for me. I grew up in a mixed-faith home and went to the Mormon church with my dad until I was eighteen. Everything was about works, trying to be worthy and in all honestly, I had zero faith. It took me 20 years after leaving the church to actually find faith- too long.

But what I realized along the way was that God had actually been there the whole time, leaving breadcrumbs and molding me shaping me like the true Creator He is. ÷

So why care about purpose, faith, works, or grace? Beacuse He does and whether we realize it or not He is working in us and our lives to move all things for His good purpose.

Our purpose is to know Him and make Him known.

That is your purpose. Life-long problem solved!

How can we live in this purpose?

Let’s walk through the steps of Faith and come to Him…

1) Finding Faith and becoming a disciple of Christ

Nobody can make you have faith.

I often wish life was a bit more like the Matrix. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could just download the next thing? Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could have french roll off our tounges like a native speaker within seconds or magically have all the skills to play Beethoven like a master?

But life doesn’t work that way and neither does faith.

Faith comes with trust.

Faith begins, as a new believer when we trust God enough to surrender our life to His will. Sounds simple, but for most of us, stubborn humans as we are, trust has to be built, even with God.

We have to open our hearts to trust God and this can be scary and overwhelming, especially when we are having to relearn old or bad ideas about God leftover from religion. That is a big part of what we do here on Finding Faith Above. We discuss why we should trust key parts of God like the Bible, who God is, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Trinity. We talk about different theological concepts and views. We learn what the word theology even means.

We learn about God, so we can open our hearts to trust God.

2) Living faith to build a relationship with God

Once we trust God and are willing to walk with Him, we have to do the most amazing thing- build a relationship with Him.

Woop Woop! This is the fun part.

Here, we are going to get to know God. We truly get to know Him, not just about Him.

How do we hear from God? It is a two-way street. We pray and talk to Him, just like a friend. He answers us in His word.

On Finding Faith Above we talk about how to bring Him into all aspects of our lives. How to create habits that help us to grow closer to Him every day? How do we build that relationship in the good times or the bad times? How to bring faith into our homes, with our kids, into our marriages?

We are living in faith to build a relationship with our Creator.

3) The Great Commission- Giving Faith

As we already discussed, you can not truly give anyone faith. Faith comes from trust, from surrender, from a relationship with our Creator. But what we can do, should do, were commanded to do is the great commission…

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”

Mathew 28:19

The last thing Jesus told His followers to do is to go out and make Him known!

How do we do that? We use our spiritual and God-given creative talents to share Him with others and help them to find faith.

I am an artist, author, speaker, and unstoppable enthusiast of living our God’s purpose after religion. He is using my story and my gifts, working in me to fulfill His good purpose.

What will He do in you and through you?

How are you going to use your God-given gifts to know Him and make Him known?

Beacuse friends, that is what this life is truly about. That is your purpose.

That is His wisdom from above.
